This is the first time i have written a blog and i sit here wondering if i can make it interesting and vibrant and ...well wonderful or more importantly INTERESTING TO READ!
I am at a real turning point in my life and after mentoring and coaching other people for so many years, i find myself going through the unusual experience of fully applying my experience and training to myself. The thing that still amazes me is the incredible and abundant number of people out in the big wide world who are still generous of time and spirit to help other people; from the simplest, kindest , encouraging word to real practical down to earth advice - it fills me with gratitude and revives your spirit and belief in people from all parts of the world and all walks of life.
While setting up this page , i found myself reviewing pictures and copy and it made me really think about what wonderful friends and family i have and some really cool pics to remind me when i have those....doubting moments to stop and appreciate what we take for granted so much of the time; I also realised how crap my filing and naming system is, in fact, it's virtually non existent; to say that in my professional world , i am renown for my memory and my files, i was shocked to realise i did not apply this to my personal stuff ... the words mentally spoken cannot be repeated publicly, but let's just say i will be reviewing the situation and setting clear targets and goals for improvement in all areas home filing wise!
So ... this week has been excellent, i have made some fantastic contacts in the business world, met a self made web guru, coached and facilitated a steering team on a major change programme and witnessed some superb light bulb moments and team gelling, re-organised my office ...twice (don't ask), had a wonderful text message from one son (totally motivational- and obviously all down to me...ahem!) and an offer from my other son to be my IT guru and business manager (not too aspirational methinks for a 17 year old) and fantastic quality time with beautiful and (i discover) very witty and intelligent daughter (yes...i am biased - but who wouldn't be) and an off the cuff coaching session with no.1 man/partner on communication skills with a 15 year female rebel (yep - his little girl is growing up).
Tonight we all went to see aliens v monsters in 3d - absolutely loved it - one of those feel good, any age films that makes you want to dance out of the dark gloom of the cinema to tell everyone to go and go now and it will set you up for Easter break! To cap it all, at this deadly hour received mobile phone call from eldest son at uni to say he will catch a train and meet me in Skipton (family day out) tomorrow for lunch - i am thinking he loves me loads BUT really it's for the lift back to base!
And finally..... i have coached mum (67 years old) on to a skype account and tomorrow night is web cam tutorial....testing, testing...is there anyone there!
